WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —  Authorities are searching for a missing tiger in western Palm Beach County and urging residents to stay indoors.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the adult tiger was last seen on the property of McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary about 20 miles northwest of West Palm Beach.

Authorities are urging residents to be cautious. They say residents should call the Fish and Wildlife hot line at 1-888-404-3922 if they spot the tiger.

Three schools are on lock-down.

It wasn't immediately clear when the tiger escaped. A lion also escaped its cage at the sanctuary but has since been caught.

A person who answered the telephone at the sanctuary on Wednesday said they couldn't comment and abruptly hung up.
