Wednesday, August 20, 2008

TOPEKA, Kan. —  A 25-year-old has been bound over for trial on charges that he killed a teenage girl in Shawnee County and set her body on fire.

Christopher Dwayne Hall is charged with first-degree murder, indecent liberties with a child and desecration of a corpse in the December 2006 slaying of 15-year-old Nacole Winter.

According to testimony at Hall's preliminary hearing Tuesday, Winter was beaten, stomped and strangled in a Topeka apartment. Then her body was transported in the trunk of a car to Lake Shawnee where it was burned from the waist down.

Hall's brother, Michael Hall, testified that another young woman who unexpectedly showed up at the apartment could have suffered the same fate had she seen the body.

Winter's body was found Dec. 14, 2006, two weeks after she left Hope Street Academy without permission.
