Dec. 4: The sound of gunfire sparked a security scare at New Delhi's international airport, which went under high alert.
NEW DELHI A police official says security forces have swarmed through New Delhi's international airport after the sound of gunfire was heard, but no one was injured.
Police spokeswoman Rajan Bhagat says a handful of shots were apparently fired but no one was seen shooting.
He says: "It was not a terrorist incident. No one was killed ... There was no attack on the airport."
Earlier reports from The British Broadcasting Corp. have said six gunmen were shot and killed by security forces at the airport.
A later BBC report says police have denied that anyone was injured, adding police were investigating "two sharp sounds" that had been heard.
