STARKVILLE, Miss. Authorities say a Mississippi State tennis player has been arrested and charged with raping a 20-year-old woman during a party at his apartment.
Police in Oktibbeha (Ock-ti-be-HA) County say Christopher Richard Doerr, who is from London, was released from jail Tuesday after posting a $50,500 bond. The 20-year-old junior also faces a charge of furnishing beer to a minor.
The woman told deputies she was assaulted at Doerr's apartment in Starkville over the weekend and authorities were called to a hospital early Sunday.
Doerr was 3-5 in three fall tournaments in 2007 and went 3-3 in doubles play. University athletic department officials have not commented on Doerr's status with the team.
A police spokesman says he doesn't know if Doerr has hired an attorney.
